Key Scripture

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” – Luke 19:10

Biblical Story: The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)

Intoduction

Have you ever felt like you’ve messed up so badly that it would be hard for someone to forgive you? Maybe you disobeyed your parents, hurt a friend, or made a decision that made you feel far away from the people who love you. Well, today we’re going to talk about a Bible story where that happens—a story Jesus told about a son who got lost in life but was found by the love of his father.

Key Points

This story shows us a powerful truth: No matter how lost we feel or how far away we think we are, God will always come after us. He never stops looking for us, and when He finds us, there’s great joy.

Main Point: God will always seek and find you because His love for you never ends.

Point 1: God Searches for Us

In the story, a young man asks his father for his inheritance (money he’s supposed to get when his father dies). Then, he takes the money, leaves home, and wastes it on things that don’t really matter. After spending everything, he becomes broke, hungry, and desperate. He feels totally lost. He even thinks about eating pig food!

  • Key Scripture: “After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need.” – Luke 15:14

Just like this son, we sometimes make decisions that lead us far away from God. We might make wrong choices, get involved in things that hurt us, or forget about God altogether. But even when we’re lost in our choices or feel far from God, He is always looking for us and ready to bring us back.

Point 2: God Never Gives Up on Us

The son realizes how lost he is and decides to return home. He thinks his father will be angry and that he’ll only be allowed to be a servant. But when the father sees him from a distance, something amazing happens: the father runs to him with open arms!

  • Key Scripture: “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” – Luke 15:20

This is a beautiful picture of God’s love. Just like the father in the story, God runs toward us when we turn back to Him. Even if we feel like we’ve gone too far or messed up too much, God never gives up on us. He is always ready to welcome us back because His love for us never changes.

Point 3: God Celebrates When We Return

When the son returns, the father doesn’t punish him or say, “I told you so.” Instead, he throws a big celebration! He puts a robe on him, gives him a ring, and even throws a party because his lost son has come home.

  • Key Scripture: “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.’” – Luke 15:22-23

God does the same thing when we turn back to Him. No matter what we’ve done, He doesn’t hold it against us. Instead, He rejoices because we’ve come back home. The Bible tells us that there’s a celebration in heaven every time someone turns back to God.

Conclusion

The story of the prodigal son is a powerful reminder of how much God loves us. No matter how lost we feel or how far away we go, God is always seeking us. He never gives up on us, and when we return to Him, He welcomes us with joy and celebration.

Remember: God’s love is so great that He will always come after you. Even when you feel far away from Him, He’s ready to welcome you back with open arms. So, if you ever feel lost, know that God is always waiting to find you and bring you home.
