Small Group Objective

Facilitate a conversation around your God given Assignment and how it’s not just your task as a leader, but every single believer's assignment.

Introduction

What is an assignment? An assignment is a task or piece of work assigned to someone as part of a job. Did you know that you as an individual have a task appointed to you by Jesus Christ Himself? Today we are going to learn about Our Divine Assignment as Believers and how the task of The Great Commission is not only for those in leadership to complete but every believer.

Key Verses

1 Corinthians 12:28  “Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages.”

Romans 10:9-10 9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Key Points

1. Obey God's Voice

  • Philip went out by faith. It was the hottest part of the day in the most intense heat, but he put aside himself and still obeyed God’s voice and went.
  • God wants to know if you will obey Him and be faithful to His assignment even if it’s difficult.

2. Find Someone Who is Hungry

  • The Holy Spirit is involved directly in finding your Assignment. Listen to your heart.
  • God has key individuals who can touch a nation that He wants to lead you to.
  • God is THE GOOD shepherd and searches for the lost, broken and hungry one. God is not satisfied with just the 99, but He would go back for the one because cares so much for all of us. We should always be looking for the hungry one.

3. Start A Conversation

  • Philip ran alongside the chariot and heard the man reading the Bible (Isaiah 53) and asked him “Do you understand what you are reading?” He got into the chariot and entered the man’s world.
  • God had been preparing his heart for that conversation.
  • Winning your assignment always starts with a conversation. It’s usually a question or statement that pulls you into their world and opens the door for you to share the Gospel.

4. Use Scripture

  • The sooner I can quote scriptures, the more the Holy Spirit has the opportunity to work in their heart.
  • God has already gone before you and done His work in their heart. He just needs you to now listen to their needs.
  • Once you know their needs, your assignment now is to share scripture with them and walk with them.

5. Help Them Make a Decision

  • Getting saved is easy! It’s simply putting your trust in Christ as the son of God.
  • We are saved by faith not by our works. An example is, the Thief on the cross.
  • Romans 10:9-10 says  “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Questions

  1. What does it mean to you personally to "go and save the lost" and "seek after the hungry and broken"? How does this assignment impact your daily life?
  2. Can you share a recent experience where you felt called to help someone in need? What did you learn from that experience?
  3. In what ways do you think the mission to help the lost and broken aligns with the teachings of Jesus?
  4. What obstacles do you face when trying to reach out to those who are lost or in need? How can you overcome these challenges?
